Eat Your Way Round the World: Japan

When it comes to innovation, there are few countries in the world that can compete with Japan. From ancient sword folding techniques to the Maglev train that goes 374 mph., the Japanese are just as successful at bringing new ideas to the dinner table, namely sushi.

Japan’s continued curiosity about the nature of the world is a great life lesson for children, so why not start with a classic Japanese meal? Kids and sushi are a natural fit: the bright colors, the little splashes of flavor and, most importantly, the bite size portions. You can get bamboo matts or cheat and use place mats.

The great thing about sushi is that you can pack it with anything you know your kids will eat, and if your kids are picky about their greens, try fresh herbs like basil or even mint that little hands can tear up and arrange.
